Adam – Chapter 15

Hello everyone. I really had to squeeze this next chapter in. The hotel is very busy this weekend with our Christmas Gift & Getaway Weekend going on. Thankfully, I had a few moments to spare. So, let’s dive into Chapter 15 and find out what’s going on with Adam.

Adam

“Who are you?” The stranger started to drive away from the accident, pushing the speed limit. It seemed that he wanted to get as much distance between them and the accident as possible.

“My name is Mick. I used to be friends with your father.” He glanced over at Adam, who seemed to be slipping into unconsciousness. “Adam, I need you to stay awake. You most likely have a concussion. I’m going to get you to a doctor. Just stay awake.” Adam blinked a few times. His vision was quite fuzzy and his head was killing him.

“Were you the one who was chasing us?” Mick shook his head.

“That was my associate, Drew. He was sent to protect you. Of course, we didn’t think Daniel and Nancy would be stupid enough to come and get you.”

Daniel fought his way back to consciousness as a light shone in his eyes.

“Sir, can you hear me?” He blinked a few times, the sight of a paramedic coming into focus. “Are you with me? Can you tell me your name?”

“Daniel. Where’s my family?” He tried to sit up but was held down by the paramedic and her partner.

“I need you to remain still sir. You have a nasty gash on your head. The woman is being attended to by another paramedic. Let’s just focus on you right now.” Daniel sat bolt upright, pushing away the hands of the paramedics as he looked around. “Sir, please calm down.” He shook his head, regretting the movement as dizziness hit him and forced him to lay back down. Closing his eyes, he let the dizziness pass before opening them again.

“Where is my son?”

Mick pulled up to a large house. The driveway itself was long, longer than Adam had ever seen. Because of this, the house was completely out of view from the highway. As Mick turned off the car, Adam tried to get a look around. Unfortunately, only the front porch was lit, leaving his surroundings in darkness that seemed to swallow up the land.

“Alright, easy does it. Let’s get you inside and the doctor will take a look at you.” Adam let Mick help him to the front door, where it was opened before Mick could knock. An elderly woman, her grey hair tied up in a bun, shook her head.

“You were supposed to keep him safe Mick. John is ready for you. Head straight to his office and I’ll have Drew bring everything from the car in. Hurry now. That head wound looks bad, and the boy is barely conscious.” Mick thanked her and half carried Adam down the call to a dimly lit room with an older gentleman waiting for them.

“Lay him on the table. Goodness, that must have been some car accident. Poor boy. How do you feel young man?” Adam barely heard the question, his head was pounding and he felt like he was going to throw up. He heard a murmur of the two men talking, but couldn’t make out what they were saying before letting the darkness consume him.

“The poor lad has passed out. Leave him to me. I will call you if I need any assistance.” Mick left the room, gently closing the door behind him before heading to the main room. Drew had just arrived and was bringing in some bags under the watchful eye of the elderly woman. She eyed him as he walked over.

“How bad is it?” Taking one of the bags from Drew, he helped him bring the rest of the bags into the house.

“Not good I’m afraid, Mrs. Burma. He just passed out.” He turned to Drew. “Were Daniel and Nancy okay?” Drew put down the bags and ran a hand through his dark brown hair. It was in need of a cut.

“Paramedics arrived shortly after you left. Daniel regained consciousness at the scene, but Nancy was still out when they loaded her into the ambulance. Something tells me they thought I was someone else. Do you think they pissed off Elijah?” Mick shook his head.

“I hope not. He will never stop hunting Adam if that’s the case. And I fear we won’t be able to keep him safe. Elijah has too many resources at his disposal. Hopefully we can move Adam within the next few days. I would hate to bring the war to this house.”

Adam Is In Trouble

Oh man. Things are starting to open up a bit, but also it’s getting quite intense here. What crazy stuff are Adam’s parents involved in? Who is Elijah? What war could Mick be talking about? Well, we will have to wait till next week to get those answers, or maybe longer. Until then, enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will catch you on Monday with a new blog.
