The Hunt Continues

So, I figured I would give you all an update on how my job search is going. It’s been a while since I posted my blog saying that I was looking for a second job. Obviously, because I have not posted a blog stating that I found one, I have not found the elusive second job. But, one must not give up. The hunt continues and here is how it’s going.

The Hunt Continues to Frustrate

So, there was this daycare that was hiring and I actually had an interview back in January. They decided to go with someone more qualified than me for the position, which I respected. Then they posted a second, similar, job ad. I emailed them telling them I was still interested in working for them. No response. Then a third time the job ad was posted. I am now scratching my head, wondering if I should contact them again. Then a 4th time. I sent my resume again. No response. And then I see another job posting. I am completely baffled, but I have decided that no matter how many more times I see the posting, I am not going to apply any more. They clearly do not want me.

Another ray of hope

I continued to send my resume out to jobs that I didn’t think would be entirely terrible. One day, while I was finishing my shift at work, my phone rang and it was from one of the places I applied at, asking if I had time for a phone interview. Of course I said yes and had a lovely chat with the woman on the phone. She was calling from a dairy barn that I applied at. That’s right – your girl has become so desperate she’s ready to work in a barn. At the end of the call she said they were still looking through resumes and would call me back if they decided to move forward. Guess what? I never got the call back.

The Hunt Continues Slowly

So, if I’m being honest, I’m not throwing my resume at every potential employer. Why not? Because some jobs I simply can’t do. I’m not qualified or educated enough. But surely there are lots of potential jobs out there. You would think so. In a way, yes there are. However, with everyone looking for a job or a second job, employers are swamped with resumes as they flood in after a job posting is made. If yours doesn’t stand out, you’re out. And some places are looking for something very particular. They say they’ll train the right candidate, but I believe if you don’t have experience or training already, they’ll pick someone who does over you.

What’s the Plan?

Well, you’re not going to like this. I have an idea but I’m not sharing it with too many people yet. Why not? Because if it doesn’t work then I might have gotten some of you excited for no reason. And I don’t like doing that. But I am hopeful that it will work and work well. And it could be a lot of fun. Until then, the hotel is showing signs of picking up business in the coming months. I just have to continue to hope and pray that it happens sooner.

Growing home buisness

On top of my blog, and writing books to hopefully publish, my husband has a business as well. He does wood work and it’s absolutely stunning. His business name is Redneck Restorations. He uses recycled wood, like from old barns, and turns them into some beautiful creations, as you can see below. He also is struggling to get his business off the ground, but we are both hopeful that the right client will come along and ask him to do a large project that will pay well. If you want to see more of his work you can look at his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/redneckrestoration.2023

The Hunt Continues and I Won’t Give Up

It’s hard, but some of the most rewarding things in life are hard. You have to fight for what you want because no one will hand it to you. At least, I have not found anyone looking to just give me their money for nothing. There is a part of me that really doesn’t want a second job. Some days I don’t even want the job I do have. But, bills must be paid. So, I will continue to go to work and to search for a second job. I will continue to write blogs and work on my books in the hope of one day publishing them. Do I expect to be a best seller right off the hop? No, but I never will be a best seller if I don’t start somewhere. And we know that anything can happen, but I need to keep trying.
