Eat and Workout Like – Kesha

Let’s get this update written. I worked the night shift last night and slept till about one in the afternoon. And I have book club later tonight. So, my day is running away from me faster than I can get my to-do list completed. And I have the night shift again tonight. This week will be insane, but that’s not what this blog is about. Right now we talk about last week and the challenge to eat and workout like Kesha.

Eat and Workout Like Kesha – The Plan

So, now that I have settled into this challenge and had the experience of the previous week when I was imitating Natalie Portman’s diet and exercise plan. I knew what worked for me and what did not work for me. So, instead of planning out all my meals for the week, I just planned out my suppers. My other meals I tried to stick on plan, but they weren’t completely following the rules, but also not really breaking them. Again, I did get my information from Superhero Jacked. And it wasn’t as bad as last week, but at the same time it was more intense.

The Diet

I was very excited that I could eat eggs again. I think I had eggs almost every day. But, that wasn’t the diet. Now, the quote that was on Superhero Jacked from Kesha, regarding her diet, did not excite me. She called it boring. I don’t know about you guys, but there’s no way I want to be bored with my food. Especially if I am trying to eat healthy. All that was mentioned on Superhero Jacked was that Kesha ate mostly lean protein with lots of veggies. When I read that my first thought was this doesn’t have to be boring. Now, like I said, I didn’t want to plan all my meals ahead of time because it’s overwhelming and it can be frustrating for me. So, I searched the internet for suppers that had lean protein and veggies.

Actually Really Enjoyable

This week I had a lot of fun with my meals. And my husband joined me for all but one of them because he wasn’t excited about it. And that was fine with me because he’s not doing this challenge, I am. The meals I made were delicious and filling. I felt so good about the food I ate. And, on top of that, I did learn something about my body. It really does like protein, especially first thing in the morning. There was one day I didn’t have protein in my breakfast and my body was so unhappy after that. So, I will continue to follow that rule, as much as my challenges allow.

Eat and Workout Like Kesha – The Workouts

Okay, so let’s talk about Kesha’s workouts. To my knowledge, these sessions were shared by her trainer, if I remember correctly. So, that meant Kesha did these. The plan was to workout 3-4 days, with 2-3 active rest days and one complete rest day. The workouts were no joke. My friend did her upper body workout with me and we were both panting and sweating by the end of it. Now, I again had to make some adjustments because Kesha had some workouts that I couldn’t do due to lack of equipment. And then some were modified because I’m not in shape as much as she is. Obviously.

The Surprising Challenge

Now, I thought the exercise days were going to be the biggest challenge for me. And while I modified them, and sometimes changed the days around to accommodate my schedule, I could do them. And yes there was a lot of sweat. But ironically, the hardest part of the workout portion of this challenge was the Active Rest Days. I know, that’s the most insane thing I’ve said in a while. But this is what I think I did wrong. My active rest days were not planned. There was no movement planned for that day. Therefore, no movement happened. That will be something I’ll have to change this week so that I don’t just have rest days. I think my rest days should incorporate some form of stretching to avoid injury.

Eat and Workout Like Kesha – Final Thoughts

I had a lot of fun actually. And other than failing on active rest days, I think I did really well. The most enjoyable part, I think, was that I could pick what I wanted to eat, for the most part. It was mainly healthy eating, with a sprinkle of other foods. And it was done in such a way that I didn’t feel restrictive. The workouts were challenging, but I enjoyed myself. Have I noticed a huge change? No, but other than that one day where I didn’t have a protein source with my breakfast, I felt really good after eating. And I have not noticed a lot of bloating or discomfort. So, that’s a huge win right there.

What’s Next

I have my plan laid out for the week. Honestly, today is the one I am worried about. Because half my day was spent sleeping due to being up all night, and then the plans this evening, I am worried that I won’t get today’s workout in. I’ll try and squeeze it in after this blog is posted. Wish me luck, and remember that anything can happen if we try.
