Christmas Break

Everyone deserves a break around Christmas time, and I am very excited for my break. We have reached single digits with the count down till I go and see family for Christmas. I can’t wait. Here are some things I’m excited for with my upcoming Christmas Break.

Seeing Family

I have some family that live in another province and I get to see them about once every two years. So, I am so excited to go out and see them and give them hugs. A week is not long to spend time with family, so I am excited to pack in as much family time as possible. I’ll be staying at my parents place, which should be interesting since their move. They don’t have a spare room, but they didn’t want me to spend money on a hotel.

Christmas Break Baking

My mom and I have done some baking together over a video call this year. It will be so nice to actually get to be together and bake. Coffee, baking and laughing together will be so much fun. I’m not sure what we will bake, but just getting to spend that time together is going to be wonderful. And knowing me, it will be filled with laughter as I goof off and make my mom laugh the entire time.

Work Break

Lately I’ve been putting in a lot of work and I am looking forward to having some down time. Now, to be clear, I will not be taking a break from blogging. This isn’t stressful. It will also be nice to sleep at night, rather than have to be up for work. I might tinker with some things, such as the schedule and social media accounts that I look after on my own, but that shouldn’t take up too much of my Christmas break. And I have enough hours banked that I won’t be missing a week’s pay, so that’s a bonus.

Christmas Break Rules

I have a few rules for myself over my Christmas break. First, cherish every moment. Sometimes we take things or people for granted. I don’t want to do that, so I plan to cherish every moment with my family. Second, relax. With my financial situation being so rough, it’s easy for me to stress about how many hours I put into work. Therefore, it would be easy for me to try and focus on working on lots of hotel stuff from my parents house. So, I want to be able to just relax with that. If I have a few minutes here and there to quickly make a post or tinker with the schedule, cool. But I don’t want to look for time to fit that in. And last but not least, enjoy myself. Again, it’s so easy to get caught up in the stress of life. Not next week. Next week will be about family, fun, rest and relaxation. That’s it.

What about you?

Do you have plans to take a Christmas break? Maybe it’s a break from school, or a break from work. What does a break look like for you? Time with family? Getting away from the cold? Lots of food? Whatever it looks like, I hope you take some time this Christmas to refresh and recharge. I also hope you take the time to tell others that you care about them and that they matter. Don’t let anyone be alone this Christmas, but make each person feel special. We can make the world a better place with a bit more kindness. Anything can happen, if we try.
