Update – Career Focused

Hello my friends. Happy Monday. This last weekend was quite exhausting, but fortunately I had a mostly relaxing day yesterday. I got to watch the Jets game on TV (we won), and got to make some progress on the book I’m reading. Progress wise, I’m about halfway through, I think. Today I wanted to update you on some career stuff because a lot has happened since my last update. So, let’s dive in and see what’s going on.

What happened

I had another interview. Exciting, right? Well, I actually went to this interview with the expectation of not getting the job. You see, from what I remembered about the job posting, I wasn’t sure I would be able to work there and at the hotel still. I was correct, as I discovered during the interview. It was later that day that I was informed that I would not be getting that job, and there was no disappointment on my end. The job wasn’t the right fit for me. Then, someone at the hotel decided to throw a monkey wrench into my life. The girl that we hired to help out with nights quit, without proper notice. So, now I’m stuck with 5 night shifts again.

How i feel

Honestly, I was furious at first. Not so much that she quit, but that she quit without notice. I now had about two weeks of schedule to try and figure out without burning myself out. And this happened on a weekend where I was putting in a lot of hours for our theme weekend at the hotel. I was already tired. The position is already a tough one to fill, so my hopes of getting that filled quickly are quite low. I am thankful for the staff that stepped up when they found out and said that they were willing to help. That’s just the kind of people they are and I feel so lucky to work with them.

update – what’s next

Well, I’ve talked with my boss and she is being great, as usual. I can put in my “night shift” hours during the day and sleep during my actual shift. The hours will just transfer over. This should help me have a bit more of a normal life, plus get more hours in. It’s a lot easier to motivate myself to work during the day than at night. And these next two weeks everyone is getting more hours because one of our staff is on holidays. I was actually quite pleased with how many hours I got last week. A nice boost there. So, with all that, plus some projects that my boss has given me the green light to try, I will not be looking for a second job at this time. My second job, if you will, will be writing. Working on my blogs and my novels.

is it enough?

I guess we will find out. I know that my debt would have gone down a lot faster with two incomes, but until I start making money from writing, I’m stuck with one. God has a plan in all of this, and I am still choosing to trust him with it all. Honestly, I still have hope that certain things will happen, both debt wise and writing wise. The goal is still the same. Publish a book this year. It might just take a bit longer than I hoped for. However, I’m determined to make this a reality and God willing, I will.

update completed, for now

So, that’s my update for the moment. I want to thank you all for helping my blog slowly grow. I am so blessed by you. There is so much hope in me to reach my goals and I can’t wait to achieve them with all of you. What about you and your goals? How are they going? Is there any way that I can support them? Please let me know. If you don’t want to put them in the comments, you can send me a DM on my social media, or an email to info.lifewsteph@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to have a conversation with you. Let’s meet our goals together. We know that anything can happen if we try.
