Struggling in 75 Soft

So, this update will be a bit different than the last one. Mainly because I forgot to write my thoughts each day. It’s been a week, my friends, and I hope that this next week will be easier for me. So, let me tell you how I’ve been struggling in 75 Soft.

The Darn Water

This is honestly, as expected, the part of this challenge that I’ve been struggling with the most. I can usually start the day strong and that first litre of water disappears easily. However, as the day progresses, water is not always on my mind and before I know it I have two hours left of the day and 2 litres of water to drink. This usually results in me chugging those 2 litres and then feeling gross as I have way too much water just sitting in my stomach. That is followed by lots of trips to the bathroom for the next hour. It’s not fun.

Struggling with Night Shifts

Sometimes I have to work shortly after a night shift. This last week I had just enough time to sleep in between one of my night shifts and the next shift. This would have been fine if it had been a regular shift. I would have still had an hour to do my workout and read a book before midnight. But, we were waiting for guests at the hotel that were going to be a bit complicated at check-in. And the girl who was working the night shift was new, so I didn’t want to leave it all to her. After all, she would have had to call me for help anyway. So, I didn’t finish my shift till after midnight, and I was tired and grumpy. Therefore, I missed most of my goals that day. I think I only got prayer and 2 litres of water completed that day. I was struggling to stay positive after this.

Struggling but Trying

Usually, having such a rough go in a challenge this early in, I would give up. I would not want to continue and maybe even move on to a different challenge. This time, that’s not the case. It really helps that I have a friend doing the challenge with me. When I shared that I had a complete failure of a day, she simply encouraged me to shake it off and keep going. And I intend to. I told myself at the beginning of the challenge that this would not be one of those weekly blogs where I only talk about how I failed another week.

What Went Right

I got new partners. Not necessarily in 75 Soft, but in exercise. I joined a challenge to do push-ups everyday for a year and there is a WhatsApp group where we keep each other accountable. On top of that, I have a coworker and her daughter who wants to do a weekly workout with me as well. She expressed how she wanted to get back into exercise, and her daughter wants to be more active. We have one day a week where we make a meal together, so we have added a workout to that day as well. Just not right after the meal, for obvious reasons.

Book Reading

I finished another book, so expect that review next week. Now I get to start another one. It’s hard to decide if I’m on track, or behind in my book reading challenge. I’ve now completed 3 out of 50 books and we are in the beginning of March. I suppose we will see what happens. This is probably the easiest part of my 75 soft challenge. Plus, I’m really enjoying reading again.

Moving Forward in the Struggling

So, moving forward I am going to take the areas I’m struggling with the most in 75 Soft and find a game plan. It really does help if I drink water with some flavour in it, so I think I might have to invest in some more fruit for that. People have told me to get those flavour packs that you can add to water, but I don’t want that. I would like it to be a bit more natural. I also want to find more workouts that get me excited to workout. The workouts I have been doing are okay, but I’m not enjoying them as much as I would like. I think I also need to make them a bit more challenging. After all, change comes when you challenge yourself, not just stay in what’s easy.

Challenge Yourself

How are you challenging yourself this year? Are you working towards your health, fitness, or career? Is there a dream you’re pursuing? Maybe there’s another area of your life that you want to grow in. I would love to hear how you’re doing. Even if you’re struggling, don’t give up. We can push through the hard times and enjoy the rewards that come on the other side of it. That’s what I’m looking forward to. Enjoying the rewards of sticking with 75 Soft. What are you looking forward to? If nothing, change that. Make a goal and pursue it. Even a small one. Anything can happen, but only if you try.
