A Fitness Journey Update

Hello my friends. Are you ready for a fitness journey update? There will be pictures of some of the delicious food I made this week, which will be the main focus of this blog. I’ll throw in a workout update as well. So, without further delay, let’s talk about food…..and fitness.

A Fitness Journey Update – Workouts

So, I still am not doing a lot of yoga. I get together with a friend every Wednesday and we take turns picking workouts. Lately mine have been a bit more cardio/body weight focused, and she picks yoga workouts. It’s honestly a great way to stay accountable. To be perfectly honest, I have struggled this week with doing my own workouts, but I’m not giving up. This week has just been a bit of a struggle. I might share more on Monday about that.

Pasta, Pasta and More Pasta

A fitness journey update is not complete without a food update. Now, before you all come after me about how carbs are bad, stop. Carbs are not the enemy here. Plus anyone who does lots of endurance running will tell you that carbs are good for you. Secondly, I’m not focused on super healthy eating right now. That will come later. Right now the focus is to get into the habit of making my own food, instead of eating out all the time. I also do not want to just take the easy way out and get frozen dinners or pre-made meals. Nope. This year I want to focus on making a lot of my own foods. So, here are some of the pasta dishes I made.

Bacon and Pea Fusilli

This dish was surprisingly good, especially because it didn’t really have a sauce to it. It was a simple dish and didn’t take too long, which is important when you’re hungry. No one wants to cook a meal that’s going to take an hour when they are starving. The recipe came from Company’s Coming, so I won’t go into too much detail about it, because it’s not my recipe. However, I will tell you that the combination of pasta, bacon, leeks and peas was surprisingly flavourful. Yes, I did accidentally burn the leeks and bacon a bit, as you can see in the picture, but it was still delicious.

Scallop Mushroom Fettuccine

Another delicious recipe from Company’s Coming. Most of the food you will see me post on my blogs will be from one of their cookbooks because I love their cookbooks. This recipe made me so happy, though the hotel did smell a bit fishy for a while due to the scallops. Thankfully, no one complained. Again, the flavours were there and the white wine sauce was just perfect. This was probably the favourite of the recipes that I made this week. Though the next one, though interesting, was delicious as well.

Meaty Macaroni Pizza

This just sounded too weird not to try it. The meal was a hit for most who tried it but my coworker’s daughter was not a fan of the BBQ sauce with the macaroni. The initial presentation of the dish looks like a pizza, but when you serve it, it’s all pasta. This was such a neat way of eating pasta, and personally I found it delicious. And you guessed it, this also came from Company’s Coming. The best part of this dish was how much meat we got to put on the pizza, though honestly, it could have used a few veggies. Not just spring onion. However, another very flavourful dish.

Wrap Up

All the food that I shared in this blog is from the Company’s Coming cookbook titled Perfect Pastas and Sauces. I highly recommend it to all pasta lovers. My updates won’t be what a typical update would look like, but who cares. This is a fitness journey update that is my own. Everyone’s journey will look different and that’s great. We don’t need to all have the same journey because we all have different bodies, different lifestyles, and different needs. Eventually I will focus on more health focused meals, maybe even more weight loss focused. For now, I just want to get into the habit of making my own food. And it certainly helps when the food tastes good. I’m confident I can still lose weight, healthily, this way. After all, anything can happen if I try.
