Write With Purpose

Today, as I lay in bed watching TV, I found myself thinking about what I would make today’s blog about. Since I want to get back into a routine with writing blogs, again, I knew I needed to write something. However, I didn’t want to write aimlessly, like I have in the past when I didn’t know what to write. In that time I thought about blogs that have gotten attention. I want to write with purpose, and those are the blogs that do well.

Successful Write With Purpose Blogs

I do believe that my most successful blog that I wrote was “It’s Okay to Say No” back in February of 2023. It had the most engagement, which is why I know that. Looking back at it, I think I’ve come a long way with blogging. After all, it was one of my earliest blogs. It makes me smile to think how far I’ve come with blogging. Yes, I’m still looking for the most successful blogs. I am looking for my niche. Which blogs get the most engagement? What kind of blogs bring me the most joy? In essence, what can I write that will make my blogs successful?

Write With Purpose Fiction

One of the other areas I want to write with purpose, is in my fiction writing. I can’t be a successful author if I don’t write books. Now the problem that I am finding with this is the debut novel. I was so certain that a certain book was going to be my debut novel. The first draft was done. But every time I sit down to write the second draft, I’m hit with a block. It’s quite frustrating. I just want to get things moving again, but can’t get my head into the space needed to write my debut novel. When ideas do come, they are for different stories – the series that I want to write. Now I know, you’re probably asking why I don’t write that. Because I don’t want this series to be my debut.

Reaching For my Fans

Now, one of the other things I was doing was trying to gain a fan base through fan fiction. During my writing drought, I lost a lot of the regular fans that were following my fan fiction story. So, even though I have put out some more chapters, they are not getting the same kind of attention. This is because I lost consistency. So, in order to get those fans back, or get new ones, I need to get that consistency back. I need to write with purpose, to get a following that may want to buy my books once published.

Next Steps

So, with writing with purpose at the front of my mind, what does that look like for me now? Well, I need to get into a writing head space. And when the ideas start forming, I should go off of those. I know that right now, when the ideas start flowing they are for my series that I want to write. But not necessarily for the same book in the series. In fact, my last idea was for book 5 or 6. I’m not sure exactly where it would fit, but I have a general idea of where in the series. Hopefully, as these ideas come out of the way, I’ll get ideas for my second draft. The last thought I had about that book is that I have a massive plot hole, which changes the whole outlook of the book. So, we will see what happens with that. Eventually I’ll get a debut novel going. past the first draft. Anything can happen, if I try.
