Wedding – Planning One

wedding preparation

So, I would like to share a bit of my wedding planning with you all. Obviously, I have never planned a wedding before. I started to once, but didn’t get far before the wedding was called off. This time things will be different and I’m very excited to go through this experience. So, let me tell you what I’ve got so far, and perhaps I’ll keep you posted throughout the year. And to be clear, I’ll just put what I’ve done – so I won’t go into detail about things like groomsmen, which is my fiance’s part.

Picking the Bridal Party

So, one of the first things I knew I had to do with wedding planning, was select my bridal party, while my fiance selected his groomsmen. I had a really good idea of who I wanted to ask right off the hop. My best, and longest, friend was the obvious choice for my maid of honour. She has been through it all with me. The ups and downs, and everything in between. My other friends were easy choices. I picked people I was close to, people who supported me, encouraged me, and are basically like sisters to me. And last, but certainly not least, I chose one of my future step daughters. When I heard she wanted to be a part of my bridal party I was determined to put her in.

Picking a Wedding Venue

I mentioned before that I had started to plan a wedding once before, but it got called off. Well, before that happened, I had looked at a venue and I really loved it. So, second time getting engaged, I knew I wanted my fiance to have a look and get his thoughts as well. It’s a beautiful location. This week we got to go look at it and meet with the event coordinator. He loves it just as much as I do, so with that being decided, we put down a down payment and picked our wedding date. So exciting!

Picking Wedding Colours

The only other thing that we have nailed down is our wedding colours. The shades we are still playing with, but we have a really good idea. And I’m so excited to announce that the colours happen to be both of our favourite colours. It’s kind of cool that it worked out that way. And the entire bridal party loves the colours too, which is AWESOME! After all, we don’t want our bridal party to hate their outfits. There is nothing worse than paying for something you hate. Speaking from experience here.

Now To Wrap Up

The wedding planning is obviously far from done. There’s so much to do still, but thankfully our venue is making a lot of that easy for us. There is so much included in the venue, that it will help keep costs down as we don’t have to go shopping for it all. It was, in a sense, a one stop shop. But there is still the wedding dress, the bridesmaids dresses, photographer, and more to do. I forgot to mention it earlier, but we have also picked our flower girls and our ring bearers. And the ideas I have for them are enough to make me giddy with excitement. But, I’ll keep some things a surprise for the actual wedding day. So, what do you think? Do you want more updates? Let me know. Until next time remember, anything can happen, if you try.
