Trying

So, I’ve been trying to figure out what to write in today’s blog. It’s a bit of a struggle as all I’ve really done this week is work and sleep. At least, that’s what it feels like. I haven’t really picked up a book because I’ve been reading fan fiction, so I can’t write a book review. The last new movie I saw was Kraven, but that was last year. So, what to do for today’s blog?

The Same

There are some things that are the same as last year. I’m trying to workout more. But sometimes it’s a bit of a push that’s needed that I can’t seem to find yet. I also still teach Sunday school. There are changes in that, but we’ll save that for later. And I’m still living in the hotel. That will stay the same until I get married though. Teddy and Marshall are still here and still keep me on my toes with their antics. And they are still very cuddly when they want to be. Which is most of the time when I’m in bed. My motivation to do most things still is quite low. So, some things are still the same.

Trying Something Different

Obviously there are some things that are different this year. I mentioned that there are changes to Sunday School. The new “year” for Sunday school did start last year and the change then is that I now only teach grade one boys. They’ve been an absolute joy and I can’t wait to see them tomorrow. However, tomorrow might be the last time I see some of them because of a new change. Starting next month our church is trying out two services because we’ve grown so much. I will be teaching at the second service. This means, if any of the boys I teach now go to the first, I won’t get to see them. This makes me sad, but I’m looking forward to seeing what the changes do bring, and the opportunity for growth it brings.

Fan Fiction

So, another thing I’m trying to do is writing fan fiction. My ninja turtle obsession is still here and now I get to share it with other like minded people. I am currently working on my first story and about twelve chapters in. What I really love about this experience is getting feedback on my writing from people who have no idea who I am. And the feedback has been so encouraging as people are just loving my writing, my story. This makes me think that maybe I am a good story writer and maybe my books will do well. I just need people to read them. Which means I need to get my butt in gear and get that second draft of my first novel done.

Trying to Learn

One of the things I would like to try to do this year is get a SkillShare subscription. I think I’ve mentioned this in the past, but just in case, I’ll quickly explain. SkillShare is a site where you can take all kinds of classes to grow your creativity. From photography and animation, to art and writing. Because I want to grow my writing this year I want to take an editing course I found. This will help me to self edit my book, which will help save on costs, and it could open the door for me to edit other people’s work as well, which would help with finances. However, like everything, it does cost money, so I do have to put a pin it for now.

We Did It

Look at that. I got a blog done. Way to go me. Okay, enough patting myself on the back. There are lots of things and areas of my life that I’m trying to grow in, to change. It won’t be easy, and there will be struggles. But as I continue to grow, and even through the failures, I will make sure to keep you all updated. I want to grow in my blogging as well. And I won’t get any content by just sitting in bed and reading fan fiction, or even writing. Time to get off my butt and do something, or read books so I can write my book reviews. But I know that anything can happen, if I try.
