Should I?

With the Newfoundland blogs done, I sat down at my laptop today and wondered what my next bunch of blogs would be. Travel really does give you some great content. However, after this last trip, I am in no place, financially, to be going on another just yet. So, I put on my thinking cap and started thinking about what I could do to bring in an extra income. Should I pursue this avenue or that?

Should I start?

For those following my blogs, you’re probably asking, “Stephanie, why don’t you start your YouTube channel?” Great question. Time is probably my biggest enemy right now in that regard. At the hotel, since I got back, I’ve been putting in a lot of hours, and lots of those are night shifts. This means I want to sleep as much as possible during the day. This is temporary as I train our new night shift and wait for the other to come back from holidays. I also need to figure out some technical things, as I’m not sure how to do a lot. The last hesitation with starting now is my roommate started a YouTube channel. So we would have to sit down and talk about filming schedules so we wouldn’t get in each other’s way.

Could I?

A few days ago I was working on uncluttering my room and I came across some books I had gotten years ago when I enrolled in an online school for writing. These books cover different writing style topics and are meant to help new authors write and publish their works. I started to read through one and it mentioned that many novel writers start with smaller projects, like short stories. Now, I have never enjoyed writing short stories. So, I tried to think of how I could start small. I guess my blogs could count, but I wanted to publish something. Then I was reminded of when someone asked me why I didn’t write children’s books. I loved kids and writing, so why not combine the two?

The hesitation

You might be asking the same question. Why not? I don’t know if I can write a good children’s book. A book for a child has to be simple, and then there are so many different kinds of children’s books. There are books for really young children. Then we have books for school aged children. Where would I fit in? What age range would I pursue? Can I even write a shorter story book that would encourage a child’s imagination to grow? I feel comfortable writing novels. There is so much I want to tell in a story, but some kids attention spans for books are short. No parent is going to buy a children’s novel.

Will I?

I really do dream of the day when I can work from home, full time. I love my blogs and whatever path I choose, I want to continue with where it all started. I’m working really hard to stick to my schedule, writing some of these blogs overnight. Will I add writing books to that? I hope so. I did learn from my books that I need to make sure I leave the mental capacity to write, if I want to write a novel. This means I can’t work on my novels on blog days. Not successfully that is. Will I start my YouTube channel soon? Another good question, and one that I do not have the answer to. Right now, with my hectic hotel schedule, I do not have the capacity. This will pass and then we shall see.

I will

What I do know is this; I will stick to my blogging schedule. I actually put it in my calendar on my phone. You can expect to see a new blog posted every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. I don’t have time slots for you because of my hotel schedule. Even when I’m not doing nights, it can be unpredictable. Hopefully my blog will start bringing in money this year. Once that’s a more consistent paycheck, even if it’s not very high, I’ll be able to reduce my workload at the hotel. Until that day, I’m going to work hard, pay off some debts, and build that travel fund. I really enjoyed my travel blogs, and I will write more. It’s only a matter of time.

Thank you

I honestly could not do this without all of you supporting me. Together we can grow this site into something bigger. The dream is to be able to use the money I make from here to help others in need, give out prizes, and much more. I hope that I can one day add a paid subscription portion where I release special content for those who want something extra. Not sure what that will look like just yet, and I’m not popular enough yet to even attempt it. With that, I thank you for your support. If you’re not a subscriber yet, what are you waiting for? Subscribe to get an email sent out to you whenever I post a new blog. Or, follow my social media accounts, as I always post new blogs there as well. Remember, anything can happen if you try.
