I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before. I’m a procrastinator. I wish that I wasn’t, but every time I try to stop, I don’t do well. With my lease ending at the end of November, and I have a lot of work to do before I’m finished moving, I need to get my butt in gear.
Moving So Far
Well, I have not been completely lazy with it all. The room in the hotel I’m moving into was not quite ready as it needed to be cleaned. I did a lot of that cleaning already. I’ve also started the moving process. I have some of my clothes in the hotel and, most recently, I’ve moved my cats into the hotel with their necessities. This included their litter box, food bowls, water fountain and a few toys. Some of my bathroom stuff has also made it to the hotel. Still lots to do though.
My Moving Plan
Even though I have until the end of November to move out, my goal is to be done moving into the hotel by the end of October. Why? So that I can take my time with the cleaning to make sure it’s done perfectly. There are some extra things that I need to do, that I would not expect to have to do. Some of you may remember me mentioning that my landlord was asking me to clean the ducts before I left. I did find my lease and it is indeed in there, so I’m going to have to figure out how to pay for that now. I would like to be done completely by the middle of November and hand in my keys by then as well. We will see how successful that plan is.
Getting Help
Luckily for me, I have some pretty incredible people in my life who want to help me. They want to help with the moving, the cleaning, and don’t ask for anything in return. That’s when you know you have some amazing people in your life. In fact, my sister seems keen to pay me back for helping her move a while back. She is really good at cleaning and getting all the details, so she has offered to help me clean my apartment after everything is moved out. Now I just need to get that going.
The Challenges
I would say that my biggest challenge is working a full time job, with night shifts thrown in. It does make it tricky when you want to sleep as much as possible during the day. The other big challenge is moving into a hotel room. I don’t have a lot of stuff, but I do have enough things that moving everything into a hotel room will be tricky. Where do I put all my food and dishes? For the things that I simply cannot put in the room, my boss has a storage area that I can use, so I am grateful for that.
The Reward
Even with all the challenges, and the fact that I really do not want to live in the hotel, there are a lot of positives. I can focus more on paying off debt and building my savings account. In December, I want to go visit family for Christmas. I have a lot of people who can look in on my cats now. During my time off, I can use the hotel like any other guest. Guess who will be taking full advantage of that hot tub. I may even take advantage of the small gym in the hotel to get a start on my running training. Let’s see how quickly I can run my 10k next year. Don’t worry, I’ll stretch more this time.
Onward
So, that’s what will be going on for the next few weeks in my life. Don’t worry, I will keep up with my blogs. In fact, I can use my night shifts to work on writing them and then I just need to post them on time. Maybe I’ll add an extra one. I do have something in mind, as a bit of a Christmas present to you all, come December. However, I’ll keep that tucked away for now. For now, I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. I’ll do my best to stay on top of my plan. Anything can happen, if I try.
