Into the Fire

As expected, it didn’t take me long to read Into the Fire. Let me tell you about this book. The highs and lows, in my opinion. Well, I’m not sure what else to put in this introduction, so let’s just dive into the review.

Summary of Into the Fire

Into the Fire is the 5th book in the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz. In this book Evan is considering retiring as The Nowhere Man. One more mission and then he vows to leave his old life behind and try to live like a normal human. That’s where Max Merriweather comes in. After his cousin’s brutal murder he finds himself on the run from unknown people. Evan takes on the case, not realising that this last case has more twists and turns in it than expected. It also hits a bit too close to home when someone close to him is targeted by these same people. On top of it all, Evan is facing his own problems with his health.

What I Liked

The whole book! I honestly do not have anything negative to say. This book kept me on edge from start to finish. There were more characters introduced throughout the book, but it was done in a necessary way. The characters, the action, the suspense – it all hit perfectly. I fell more in love with Evan’s character in this book. As he grows and finds himself trying out new interactions with people, you can’t help but feel for him. Complications in the case and his life just added so much more depth to the story.

What I Didn’t Like

Like I said, there is nothing negative to say about this book. It checked all the boxes for me. So, I have nothing more to put in this section.

Into the Fire Rating

I’m sure this is not a surprise. Into the Fire got a 5 star rating from me. I think, out of all 6 books, this one has to be my favourite so far. For those who are confused, I’ll remind you. When I started this series, I didn’t know it was a series and I had started with the 6th book by accident. Now I’m all caught up and I can jump to the 7th book afterwards. I’ll throw the link below to my review on the 6th book which was called Prodigal Son. And I remember how Prodigal Son ended so I will probably force myself to read the next three books I grabbed from the library as fast as possible. I want to continue with Orphan X.

A Humbling Moment

So, as you know I do watch people review books on YouTube. My favourite BookTuber just posted a monthly wrap-up video for June. And let me tell you that when she said she read 17 books in June, my jaw dropped. I had to pause the video and take a moment. You see, before I finished Into the Fire, I had only read 17 books THIS YEAR!!!! I was so shocked that I actually reached out to her and told her this. She told me that she was equally surprised that she read that much this month, and credits it to some of the challenges she did last month – one being a 24 hour reading challenge. I’ve got to up my game. Especially if I want to reach my “read 50 books this year” goal. Wish me luck. Anything can happen, if I try!

    1. I’m trying. This is the most I’ve read in a really long time. Since I was in junior high when I could read a book a day.
