CJ’s Hangout

I got to kick off my weekend in the best way possible! I headed over to CJ’s Hangout and threw axes. It was an incredible experience. And I wanted to blog about it for two reasons. First, to share my experience at CJ’s Hangout. Second, to show my support to them. So, let me tell you all about it. Please note that I’m not using names because I didn’t get permission to use names. However, they did seem excited about me blogging about their business.

What is CJ’s Hangout

CJ’s Hangout is a small, locally owned business in the St. Anne area, in Manitoba. Currently they have axe throwing and rage rooms. When I asked them what made them decide to open up a place like this their answer was simple.

“We wanted to give people something to do. There’s nothing like this in the area.”

And they’re right. To my knowledge, the nearest area to go axe throwing, from where I live, is in Winnipeg. Now, I have a closer spot. They also shared with me that they have plans to expand.

“We are hoping to add an archery range, laser tag, mini golf, and much more.”

This girl would absolutely love an archery range.

My Experience

From the moment you walk into the building you are treated kindly. They greet you right away and even though we were early, they were able to get us started. We signed the waiver, paid the fee, and headed into the range where the coach was waiting. He was extremely helpful. I was coached on my form, where I should stand, how I should throw. And every time I started to struggle, he would correct and adapt. There were different sizes of axes to throw and we got to try two different ones. The staff were encouraging, informative, and fun to interact with.

Rating CJ’s Hangout

Ten out of ten experience. I was happy with everything and everyone I interacted with. They were happy to answer my questions and even showed me the rage room and some of the things they have to put into the rage rooms. I will be returning to this place and checking out the rage rooms. Plus, I want to practice some more axe throwing. They mentioned starting a league and having tournaments, which I think would be so fun. Not sure if I’ll join a league, but we will see how good I get. I did get a few bulls eyes, and even made it to the top of the leader board.

Who Would Enjoy This

This place is a blast and anyone can enjoy this. They do allow children as well, as young as ten years old. And with so many different styles and sizes of axes, even the kids can work towards getting that bullseye. You don’t have to be a professional to come and throw axes. Or maybe axe throwing isn’t for you but you got some frustration to work through. Check out the rage room and destroy things to your heart’s content. I firmly believe you can’t leave this place in a bad mood. The staff are top notch, and they’ll go above and beyond to give you the best experience they can.

Final Thoughts

I think I’ve said it all. Returning to the place and becoming a regular is only limited by my financial situation. When I asked if they would be doing memberships or some sort of loyalty program, they said it is something they are looking into. As with any small business there are lots of things to figure out as you go and they are already thinking of more possibilities for the future of their business. I wish them all the best and I hope you check them out if you’re ever in the area. It might just become your favourite place. Anything is possible if you try.
