Hello my friends. I hope you all had a great week and are starting your weekend off right. I’m excited to get into this new chapter, so let’s not delay. Here is Chapter 15 of What Would You Do.

Chapter 15

Amanda Steel sat on the couch, staring at a picture of Davis in her hands. It was an older picture, from when he was ten. It had been his tenth birthday and she had taken him to the amusement park. After he had won a game, the two had taken a picture together with the large stuffed teddy bear he had given her. That was her son. It was his birthday but she got a gift. A tear trickled down her cheek and she angrily swiped it away. How could he take her son? How dare he! Hearing the front door open, she jumped up and ran to the entrance, disappointment showing on her face when she saw it was her sister. Looking at the ground near her sister’s feet and her disappointment turned to anger.

“You went shopping? Davis is missing and you went shopping?” William came as his wife’s raised voice drew him out of his study. Valerie didn’t seem phased as she removed her sunglasses, brown eyes clear. Amanda had never struck her sister, and she had never been more tempted than right now.

“Yes I went shopping. Sitting around here wasn’t doing me any good. I needed to get out of the house and away from your constant crying.” The sound of Amanda’s hand slapping Valerie across the face seemed to echo in the entryway. William stood nearby, shock on his face. Valerie, who was probably more shocked, glowered at her sister. “Did you just -“

“Get out.” Amanda cut her off, her entire body trembling. Valerie looked like she was about to say something when Amanda screamed at her. “I said get out!”

What Would You Do

William stepped in. It looked like the two sisters were about to fight.

“Amanda, my love, why don’t you go sit down in the living room. I’ll have Maria bring you a cup of tea.” Her blue eyes pierced into his brown and he kissed her forehead. “It will be alright.” Maria had appeared and helped Amanda to the living room before rushing to the kitchen to get her some tea. William turned to his sister in law, seeing the smug look on her face as if she had won the fight.

“Thank you, William. It’s good to see that someone still has their priorities in place.” William’s face darkened and Valerie regretted her words. Her brother-in-law was a dangerous man.

“Are you saying that our son should not be our priority?” He didn’t raise his voice, but his tone was dangerous and Valerie was quick to pick up on it.

“No, that’s not what I’m saying at all. You have people looking and all my sister is doing is sitting around and crying. Should I really be punished for doing some shopping therapy?” William’s expression didn’t soften.

“I think you should take your things and find somewhere else to stay. You’ve upset my wife and you clearly are not upset about Davis’ predicament. I’ll call John to drive you to a hotel and you can stay there while you’re in LA.”

Chapter 15

John anxiously paced the lobby. A nurse had rushed into the room to wake him, motioning him to follow her. Worried that something was wrong with Susie’s latest test results, he had quickly followed her. He never could have imagined that the news would be worse. Someone had been seen abducting Tessa. The police had been called when one of the nurses had witnessed the abduction while on her smoke break. That was five hours ago. Police officers and detectives were everywhere, questioning staff and visitors. One detective approached him.

“Mr. Rhodes?” He nodded. “I’m Detective Williams. Please, sit down so we can talk.” He motioned to a sofa nearby and the two men sat down. “Now it does seem like Tessa was targeted, and this was not a crime of opportunity. Do you have any idea why someone would take your daughter?” John ran a hand through his hair, exasperated.

“No. We don’t have any money and Tessa has not mentioned anyone giving her a hard time at work.” The detective was already scribbling notes in his notepad.

“Where does Tessa work?” John answered. “I’ll talk with her boss and coworkers to see if anyone there has an idea. Is there anything you can tell me that could help?” John shook his head, defeat evident on his face.

“I have no idea why someone would take my daughter.”

What Would You Do

Tessa opened her eyes with a groan. Blinking with confusion she sat up, closing her eyes as her head pounded in protest. Where was she? How did she get here? Flashbacks of walking outside, thinking about her sister, and then being grabbed. Her eyes snapped open. She had been kidnapped, but why? Standing up, Tessa walked over to the window and looked outside. There were trees as far as she could see. Where was she? Tessa looked around the room, but didn’t see anything helpful so she walked over to the door and tried the handle. Locked. Sighing, she walked back over to the bed and sat down. What was going on? Who took her and why? Her family didn’t have any money. She thought about her parents and fear gripped her. Did they know she had been taken?

Tessa jumped up and began searching the room. She had to find a way to escape and get back to her family. With Susie in the hospital, she was the only one who could bring in an income. Fear gave her renewed determination as she opened drawers and closets. Nothing! Grabbing a chair she threw it at the window, which didn’t shatter. Instead the chair bounced off and clattered to the floor. Walking to the door she began banging on it, tears forming in her eyes.

“Let me out of here. Please!

Well That Was A Lot

Well, it seems that there are more questions to be asked and more answers to search for. The police are looking for Tessa. William has sent his own people to search for Davis. Will either of the teens be found? Who took Tessa? Find out, hopefully, in next week’s chapter. Until then, enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll see you Monday. I hope you enjoyed Chapter 15.
