April’s Challenge – An Invitation

So, as you know, I have been attempting my fitness journey and blogging about how each month goes. March’s update will be coming soon, and I have done the draw to pick April’s challenge. However, this blog is not about that. I’m going to be doing a second challenge for the month of April and I’m inviting you all to join me. And to make it more interesting, there’s going to be a prize. Interested?

The Challenge:

Let’s start with explaining the challenge. The challenge will have three parts to it. You can choose if you want to do all 3 parts, or just a few. What about the prize? Don’t worry, I’ll let you know about that a bit later. Here are the 3 parts to the challenge.

Fitness:

So, for the first part of the challenge, I want to invite you to work on your fitness. Now, for those of you who are ready to skip to the next part, hold up. I’m not saying do an hour of HIIT (high intensity interval training). If that’s your thing, go for it, but that is not what this challenge is. I want you to pick 1 thing and do that everyday for 30 days. Examples of what you could do: hold a plank, squats, push-ups, etc. Pick one move and how many you want to do, or how long to hold it, if doing a plank or wall sit, or something like that. Do that everyday for 30 days. You can also choose if you want to do it for the same amount during the whole 30 days, or if you want to increase it.

Hydration:

If you’re like me, getting in your hydration can be tricky. After all, coffee and pop taste much better than boring water. So, the second part of the challenge is to increase your water intake. I won’t tell you how much to drink. Everyone is different, and every body has different needs. Someone with a desk job will not need as much water as someone who works in a physically demanding job. Because of this, I want you to pick a water goal and try to meet that goal every day for the whole month of April.

Books and Podcasts:

The third part of the challenge is to read a chapter of a book, or listen to one podcast or audio book every day for 30 days. I know this sounds a bit strange, and I’ll explain why I’m putting this part as a third part to my challenge. I find that if I read a chapter of a book before I go to bed, rather than watching media or playing on my phone, I sleep a lot better. Sleep is so important to our health. Now, because I know that not everyone likes to read, I have also included listening to a podcast/audio book. Obviously, I don’t expect you to listen to an entire audio book, so how about a chapter a day, same as if you were reading.

Community:

Now, as we all know, challenges are much more fun with friends. So, invite your friends to do this with you. If they say no, never fear, I’ll do it with you. I’ll be uploading a story everyday on my personal social media pages (will link those below). I invite you to do the same thing. For one, we can all encourage each other to keep going and motivate one another. Secondly, knowing that we are all going to be waiting for everyone to post, there’s some accountability in that.

Time for Prizes:

Now the exciting part. At the end of April, I will choose one lucky follower to win a prize pack. I don’t know, at this exact moment, what will all be included in the prize pack, but there will be some great things for sure. I’ll post on the blog’s socials as I get things for the prize pack. Now, how can you win? I’ll make a post on social media, and you simply have to comment on it. For clarity, because I want this to be for people who are following the blog, the posts to comment will be on the blog’s socials, not my personal. Every comment will be an entry.

Summary:

To let you know, I’ll be holding the plank everyday. I will hold the plank as long as I can, and the goal is to double the time I can hold the plank from day 1 to day 30. On my BetterMe app, I have a water goal already. My goal will be to drink 2750mL of water everyday for the month of April. I will also be aiming to read a chapter from a book before bed to help me get a better sleep. This will be added to my other challenge where I follow a different workout and meal plan every month.
