Yes, that’s right. Your girl finally joined a book club! We have our first meeting in a few days to get to know each other, go over what things will look like, and just have a great time. I am looking forward to this meeting. And I even signed up by myself instead of trying to talk friends into joining it as well. So what’s this blog about if we haven’t met yet? I want to go over what I hope to gain from this book club. Here are my book club hopes.
Book Club Hopes – Variety
One of my goals this year is to branch out more and read more variety of books. So, one of my book club hopes is to accomplish that through the book club. To read books that I normally wouldn’t pick up. Now, does this mean I’ll be excited to pick up books that are not in my preferred genre? Not necessarily. I still am not looking forward to reading romance, if that comes up. And in a book club full of women, it’s bound to happen. But, I will do it because that will be the expectation.
Book Reading Goal
I have a reading goal of 50 books this year, as I have shared in a previous blog. This will definitely help reach that goal, along with the TBR jar that I want to make. Since the first book will need to be read for our March meet up, and I am going to assume that we will pick a new book each month, that means I will for sure read 10 more books this year. On top of that, with my TBR jar that I’m going to make, I’m going to pick 4 other prompts to pick 4 other books. Then the hope will be to read 5 books a month. If I can accomplish that, I will make my reading goal. Book Club Goals number 2.
Book Club Goals – Community
The last of my book club goals that I will mention here is community. I get the chance to make some new friends and talk about books together. As we try different genres and different authors together, we can also share some of our favourites with each other. And having more people to encourage and reach goals with just sounds like a lot of fun right now. Don’t get me wrong, my friends are the best. I wouldn’t trade them for all the books in the world. But sometimes making new friends is fun too. And a community of people who love to read sounds pretty awesome.
March Goals
I want to quickly touch on my March goals as we wrap up this blog. When I’m done posting this blog I’ll be making my TBR prompts for my TBR jar. I want to also film a few reels to put on social media to try and grow my followers and find more people who will enjoy my blogs. And I need to read my current read to hopefully finish it before March 1st. So, March goals will be to post more regularly on social media, finish the 5 books I pick based on my TBR jar, and post a minimum of 2 blogs a week. In my first year I did really well with posting regular blogs and I really want to get back to that. I also want to start treating writing like a job, since I want to be a writer, and spend about 20 hours a week on blogs or my novels. Maybe I’ll go more in depth with these goals. Next blog idea? Until next week remember that anything can happen if you try.
