Becoming My Best Self

As promised, I have come up with a new series. Becoming My Best Self! That will be the goal of this series. In today’s blog I will tell you what the goal is, how I’m going to aim for this, and what to expect in the future updates of this series. So, without further delay, let’s dive into this.

How I’m Becoming My Best Self

Well, the first thing I need to work on is discipline and pushing through the I don’t want to mindset I seem to have trouble getting out of. How am I doing that? I have a weekly planner whiteboard. It had been sitting in my window, behind closed blinds for so long. Out of sight really is out of mind for me. I’ve taken that out and I’ll find a spot for it where it’s in my face each day. On there I will write the plan for each day, my goals for the week and a to do list for the week. The goal is to follow this each day, each week, until it becomes a habit.

The Obstacles

Well, obviously the main obstacle will be myself. Even with the plan in my face I can be stubborn, or lazy, and choose not to do it. If I put in a lot of hours for work I’ll tell myself that I deserve to take a day where I do nothing but veg out. I have to remember that working on my writing, working out, and taking care of myself is actually a good thing and I need to do it even on my days off. But, a lot of work hours is what brings me to my next obstacle to becoming my best self. Time! There are only so many hours in the day and depending on what’s happening that day, I might not have enough hours in the day to get everything done. Without burning myself out completely.

Becoming My Best Self Goals

So, I have a few goals that are my main priority. I want to get to a point where I am writing for a minimum of 1 hour a day, everyday, for the remainder of the year. The exceptions, of course, are my wedding and honeymoon. Clearly I will have other priorities. Next is a regular workout schedule. I don’t think I need anything crazy, just 3-4 days a week would probably be the most sustainable for me. I want to get back into a regular devotions routine, where I prioritise spending time with God more. And I feel like I’ve neglected my cats too much, so it would be nice to be better at taking care of them. To be clear, they have all their daily needs met, but I don’t really spend time or play with them. That’s where I want to improve. Playing with them, grooming them, that sort of thing.

What to Expect in This Series

You can expect updates on how my week was, where I struggled, and where I succeeded. I will share which obstacles were tough to overcome and my plan to overcome them in the new week. Maybe, if the opportunity is there, I’ll share some funny stories, should anything entertaining happen that week. I also plan to post every Monday. I would have posted yesterday but I took a nap in the afternoon because I am recovering from getting sick on Friday and I had Wedding Dress shopping in the evening. I’m happy to say that I found my dress. There were tears. But, back on topic. That is what to expect.

Let’s Do This Together

I challenge you to go on this journey as well. Let’s all work on becoming the best versions of ourselves. Pick a few areas of your life that you want to commit to, even for six months, and make a list of goals. Make a plan on how you want to attain those goals and together we can work on them, encourage each other, and grow into the best versions of ourselves. After all, anything can happen if we try.
