Now, I’m going to be honest. The title here is a bit deceiving. It makes it sound like things are looking up for me. Not really. However, I want to start looking at the bright side of things. No more focusing on the negative, the hard and the stuff I would rather ignore. So, let’s look up together.
The Struggle
First, let’s get the hard stuff out of the way. What’s going on? Well, I’m moving into a hotel, so in a sense, I’m technically homeless. I’m drowning in debt and to make matters worse, I’m a stress shopper, which puts me in more debt. I am working 3 night shifts a week at the hotel, on top of trying to schedule myself to work during the day as well. There are a lot of blogs I want to write, but I can’t afford to do what I need to get the content I want. And the icing on the cake, our other main night shift just informed me that there is a good possibility that she will be giving her notice by the end of the month. The hits just keep coming. I need to start looking up, rather than down on my life.
time to look up
If you’re like me you’re probably wondering where the silver lining is in all of this. I am also wondering that as I write this. The one positive is that while I live at the hotel, I’m not paying rent, hydro, internet, or water bills. This means that more of my paychecks can go towards paying off my debt. I can also put money into savings, so that I can slowly start working towards writing the blogs I want to. This will, hopefully, help bring more traffic to my blogs, which will in turn help me make some money. You see where that is going.
Hopeful content
I hope to write some pretty fun blogs next year. One of the ones that I really want to do is a two week holiday, where I blog throughout those two weeks. Kind of like I’m taking you all along with me. I won’t tell you where, just yet. I have two different locations in mind, so we will see which one I can afford. Then there is my fitness journey. I have some ideas of challenges I want to do next year. I will share that I am planning on running in the Manitoba Marathon again next year. I will probably stick with the 10k, but we will see how training goes. Another silver lining, the gym in the hotel has a treadmill, so I can start training on that during winter.
I haven’t forgotten
For those of you who reached out and let me know what kind of blogs you would like to see, I have not forgotten you. I will still get those to fit in the schedule as well. So, keep the ideas coming. I am also going to Calgary for a week in December to visit family. I’m sure we will have some shenanigans for me to share with you all in a blog. In the mean time, I hope you will all be patient with me as I meander through this craziness that I call life right now. And let’s all hope that one of my vacation plans for next year can happen. As we all know, anything can happen if we try.
This is a tough season of life, Steph! Virtual hugs to you! (you can demand a real one next time you see me)
Thanks Geralyn.
