Summer – Things Missed

Hello everyone. Can you believe we are halfway through August already? Before we know it, fall will be upon us. How disappointing. I love summer, but I feel like I’ve missed it this year. All the things I planned to do and didn’t. Life is too busy. Today I want to share a list of things I wish I had done, or done more of, this summer.

Hiking

Earlier this year I posted a hiking blog. I had really hoped to do a lot more hiking this year. There is a list of trails that I want to check out, but have not been able to. Now, I’ll admit that some of those hikes were put on hold because I had injured my ankle. Others were because I didn’t have someone to go with on my days off. I’m sure some of you can relate to being frustrated with working so much that you can’t do anything with other people. Maybe I can get a few more hikes in later this month, or in the fall, but right now I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to hike as much as I wanted.

Beach days

At the beginning of summer I bought some new swim suits and I was so excited to wear them to the beach. Yeah, I’ve hit the beach once this year. With hotel work consuming my weekends, I have not been able to go out with friends for a day at the beach. I’ll admit that this disappoints me, a lot. I love lazy beach days. Laying on the beach and talking with friends, eating a picnic lunch, and swimming whenever you need to cool down. Those days are the best, but I didn’t get those this summer. I will admit; this is one of the reasons I can’t wait till I’m a full time blogger.

Walking/jogging

Okay, this one is all on me. I don’t need to wait till friends have time off work. Walking is something I can do on my own. Same with jogging. So, what went wrong? I chose to stay home and watch media, or sleep more than I needed to. There were plenty of days where I would go outside to bring garbage to the dumpster and think, this is a perfect evening for a walk. I should go on a walk. Then I would head back inside and not go for a walk. Maybe once things have calmed down at the hotel I can go for some walks. I will probably stay away from jogging until next year, just to make sure my ankle is going to be okay. I’m thinking of doing a month of yoga to really stretch it out and make it happy.

BBQ

At the beginning of summer I asked my roommate not to fill our patio with plants like last year because I was going to buy a BBQ. I was so excited about that. Did I buy one? Nope. There was some uncertainty on if one of us was going to be moving out, so I held off. Plus, if I’m being honest, I was too broke. I did look at some, but the prices kept me walking away. Maybe next year I will be in a better place, financially, and then I can get one.

Another wasted summer

So, this is it. I’ve wasted another perfectly good summer. Sure, I went to Newfoundland and had an amazing time out there, but that was two weeks. The rest of my summer has been spent wasting time at home, or working at the hotel. I really need to change my mindset and habits. Life is too short to be wasting so much time. I will continue to hope that my blogs will begin to make some money. An extra income will be super helpful. Then there’s my novel that is starting to get neglected again. I should get back to that. Same with Arbonne. I won’t make any money from there if I don’t try. And yes, YouTube is still on the list of things I want to do. However, that may have to wait until next year. I feel overloaded already.

Well, that’s all for today. How have your summers been? Did you get to do lots of things that you wanted? I hope you got some vacation time in. Until next time I want you to remember that anything can happen if you try. Have a great weekend everyone.
