Spring – It’s Finally Here

Spring! The snow melts away and new life starts springing up. Birds return with their happy songs, the weather gets warmer, and the trees begin growing new leaves and everything is green. I’m not big on flowers, and I don’t garden, but I love seeing nature come alive after a cold winter. So, let me tell you about some of the things I’m looking forward to with spring.

Getting Outside

I may have lived in Manitoba almost my entire life (I spent one year in New Zealand), but one thing I will never get used to is the winters. I am not a fan of the cold. In fact, hockey is the only good thing about winter. What about Christmas? Who said it had to be cold for Christmas? But we are going off track here. I do love being outside, especially when the weather is nice. So, I’m looking forward to getting outside and going for walks with friends. I have one friend that loves jogging, so I intend to join her. Well, as soon as I get new running shoes. And as things get dryer, and the weather gets warmer, I look forward to trying out some hiking trails.

Spring Birthdays

I am a spring baby, and I look forward to having an excuse to get together with my friends and do something a little extra fun. My best friend, Rosie, and I have a tradition. Her birthday is a few weeks before mine (yay) and we started to celebrate our birthdays together. We still will do something with our other friends, but we have a special day for just the two of us. Ironically, a new marvel movie always comes out around the same time, and because we both enjoy marvel films, we make sure to go and see it. A fun day with just the two of us.

NHL Playoffs

What kind of hockey fan would I be if I didn’t get excited about the playoffs? Especially because my favourite teams all made it in. It’s going to be a tough battle this year, and as I write this, we are just waiting to see who the last team will be in the eastern conference wild card slot. As much as I would absolutely love to go to a playoff game this year, I do not think it’s in the budget this year. However, I will watch when I can and cheer my teams on. Go Jets Go! Let’s Go Canes!

The Hopes

I hope to be able to buy myself a small BBQ this year and try my hand at that. My roommate and I have a small deck and some furniture on it. I didn’t use the deck a lot last year, but this year I’m hoping to get some use out of it. And what better way to use it than to BBQ some meals for my friends? I have a few recipes that I’m dying to try out, so I am hoping to have enough money for that. You guys supporting me definitely helps, so thank you.

Fitness too

I also think I want to try to go for a walk while listening to podcasts on a regular basis. I understand that there will be days where the weather won’t be favourable, or a walk just won’t fit into my schedule, and that’s okay. But if I have a day where I’m not doing much else, why not go for a walk? Plus, it will help me on my fitness journey.

Your Turn

Well, those are some of the things I’m excited for. Now I want to hear from you. What are you looking forward to this spring? Which season is your favourite? Do you have any plans or goals that you want to set this year? Are you someone who enjoys growing things? I am terrible at it, my roommate is a queen when it comes to plants. What about you all? Any green thumbs out there? I hope your spring is as wonderful as you are. Have a great day, get outside, and remember that anything can happen if you try.
