March – Fitness Journey Continues

So, we have heard how January went, and then how February went. Those two months were not so good in the food and fitness category. Now we move onto March. How did I do with the “diet”? What about the workouts? Is there hope for me to reach my goals? Find out, as the journey continues.

What I did

So, for the month of March, it was Cassey’s turn to whip me into shape. The 28 day reset and following Pop Pilates videos was on the agenda for the month. For those who are not sure, the 28 day reset is a 4 week program to help you figure out your food sensitivities. You eliminate common allergies like gluten and dairy, as well as processed foods, added sugars and alcohol. After 4 weeks, you slowly reintroduce those foods back into your diet and see how your body responds. Pop Pilates is when you do Pilates inspired moves to music.

let’s talk about food

Due to a copyright issues, I can’t share any of the recipes that I did try from the program, but I will link Cassey’s channel at the end of the blog and she has some videos with some great recipes you can try for yourselves. If I’m being honest, I think I did the worst, food wise, with March. Well, that’s way too restrictive.” You might think that, but that’s not what it was. The food in the challenge was absolutely delicious and quite simple to make. I have done the 28 day reset in the past, and it definitely is one of those programs that is a lot easier to do with someone else. Last time, I did this with my roommate at the time. This time, I was on my own.

Workouts

The workouts that I did, kicked my butt. I tried to pick videos in series, so that I didn’t have to think too hard about what I was going to do. Cassey does have a calendar and posts which videos to do each day, but I was not interested in following them, because I had no desire to put myself through that torture. One video was enough, thank you.

Highlights

For those who are interested in trying this out yourself, here are the pros, or highlights, of the program. You don’t have to think about what videos to do. She has so many videos and it can be overwhelming. However, each of her playlists let you know which video to do each day. She has different challenges that you can find on her channel, or her website. I believe she also has an app, but I have never used it, so I cannot comment on it. The recipes are easy to follow, you don’t have to be an experienced cook. The food is delicious. The plan tells you what to eat everyday for 4 weeks. For those who like workout videos where the instructor is talking to you the whole time, Cassey is your girl. She talks the whole time and encourages you, giving you reminders throughout on what your form should look like.

Not a fan

What did I not like about it? I used to love doing Cassey’s videos, but I have just moved away from them. Going back to them was actually a challenge. I realise that I don’t like the constant chatting. If I’m dying, I don’t want someone cheering after each move. When it comes to the food, I’m sure you can guess, I did not like the cost. Every week you need to get groceries, and because you’re getting whole foods, it costs a lot of money. I also was not a fan of how many meals I had to make each day. I have better things to do than spend my entire day in the kitchen cooking, prepping and trying to keep up with the dishes. It’s also hard to have a social life when you’re so restricted in what you eat.

conclusion

There are lots of people who love doing Cassey’s workouts, challenges, and trying her recipes. She is great at challenging people, encouraging you in your fitness journey, and is certified in Pilates. Eating healthy is something that everyone should strive for, but we have to keep in account what everyone can or cannot afford. I failed at the month of March, badly. I don’t think I followed the food plan at all, but I did have a recipe here and there from it. The last 2 weeks I didn’t workout at all. If you want to do this program, go for it. It’s not a bad program. I do encourage you though; try to find someone else to do it with you. It makes it easier, and the accountability is way better.

That’s it for now. We will see what April brings us. For those that are joining in on Steph’s April Challenge, how are the first few days going? What are you all doing with the challenge? I would love to hear from you. After all, if I don’t know who’s all doing the challenge, I don’t know who to enter into the draw to win the prize pack at the end of the month. Planning this prize pack is going nicely and I can’t wait to put it together. Until the next blog, take care and remember, anything can happen if you try.
