There are a lot of the future I can’t plan. I’m not that powerful. But I can make plans and see what I can do to make those plans succeed. I will have to set myself up for disappointment because life is unpredictable. In this blog I will plan the future of my blog, my hopes for work life and my marriage. And it will be fun to see how everything plays out. So, I invite you to join me in planning the future.
Planning the Future of my Blog
So, obviously I want to keep blogging. I did have a time where I was thinking about quitting the blog because it wasn’t producing what I wanted. But, thankfully, I stopped to think about it and really understood that I was to blame. When I started, I was consistently putting out three blogs a week. And then I got my first payment and I was over the moon excited about it. But that lasted a short time and I fell off the consistency. Which naturally led to me not getting paid again since. However, that was my fault. You guys can’t support my blogs if I’m not writing them.
Types of Blogs
I have been trying to nail down what my blogs are going to be about. And I’ve been looking at the blogs that are getting the most views. Unfortunately, for me, my book reviews have been the least viewed. That makes sense if I don’t have bookworm subscribers. However, I do like these blogs and it inspires me to get back to reading. So, I will continue them. But, I will also write blogs that I have noticed you all seem to enjoy. And those are the blogs where I talk through my struggles. Someone told me that these blogs are going to be popular because other people want to know that they are not alone in these struggles. So we can go through it together.
Thinking of bringing back
For those who have been with me from the beginning, you might remember that I used to do Story Saturdays. I know that the first one I did was good, but everyone wanted more depth. The second just died because I wasn’t enjoying the story. But I think I would like to bring that back. My hope is that I can grow my imagination again and it will inspire me to work more on my novel. For those of you who read the first one, The Case of Adam Ness, did you enjoy it? Should I bring back Story Saturday? If I get enough demand, I will definitely bring them back.
Planning the Future of my Work Life
So, I have shared with you all my job struggles. That blog is my most popular one this year so far, which is crazy to me. I still have not found a second job, so this blog is still my second job. The pay sucks right now. Ha. But I won’t give up on finding a second job that actually pays regularly. I will admit, there is a place that I applied at in January and got an interview. However I did not get the job. Since then, I’ve seen that job posted 3 more times. At first I was irritated because I thought the interview went well, and I emailed them after the second to say that I now had my first aid. Never heard back. But the fact that they are still looking makes me wonder why.
Continuing the job hunt
I have contemplated not being as picky with the places that I apply to so that I have a better chance at finding a second job. But, as I looked at the jobs there were a lot of jobs that I am nowhere near qualified to do. And the ones I could potentially do, I really didn’t want to apply for. So, dropping the picky job hunting didn’t work. But I thought about it some more. What is the point in getting a second job, if I will hate every moment of it. There are days I hate my current job, so why would I get another one that makes me not want to go to work. With that decision in mind I will not apply for a job if I don’t think I will enjoy it.
My current job
I am still hoping that my current place of work will get busier and bring in more business. If that happens I do not need to worry about finding a second job. Then I can get the hours I need to get the paychecks that I need. And to make my job more enjoyable, I have decided to pick up blogging for them again. For those of you following me on Instagram or Facebook, you will know that I have written two of them so far. There is a third waiting to be posted on the website and I’ve started researching and writing the fourth. The difference between making blogs for the hotel verse for myself – I only write it. The posting and feature photo are done by our website/social media girl. And I obviously have to write things that are approved by my boss. But yes, definitely hoping for more business to keep us busier.
Planning the Future of my Marriage
My marriage is good, but it could be great. My husband is a great guy, so supportive of me and my writing dreams. He loves to take care of me and encourage me and defend me. But what I think I appreciate the most is he doesn’t baby me. If I complain about something, he points out that I know what I need to do. Not mean, but he doesn’t let me play the victim when it’s my own fault. And I love him so much for that. So, how can I make my marriage great?
Listen more
I’ve mentioned before that I want to spend less time on screens. Now, I enjoy spending the evenings with my husband playing Mario Kart, or watching the new season of Tournament of Champions. And these are things we do together. But we want to also spend more time away from distractions. To sit and talk and actually listen to each other. I want to spend more time hearing his heart, his desires, and then fulfilling them. He’s been asking me to make a dessert that I made once before. I need to take the time to actually make it, not just say I will and then take forever to do it.
Helping more
Currently he does more of the cooking for us. I do love cooking. Lately because I’ve been such a grump about the debt situation, I’ve not been pulling my weight and helping out with that. I cannot simply wait for our money situation to improve. So I must do my part now. And I want to. That means planning the future of our regular date nights, planning our one year anniversary, and doing my part to become the wife I want to be for him. He reads my blogs, so I know this will make him happy. You’re welcome babe.
Planning the Future Can be Scary
The future is full of unknowns. However, what I do know is that I can’t continue to wait for things to get better. I have to act now. There were things that were on hold temporarily because we didn’t know what was happening. Like making this house work for both of us. We were unsure if we would be moving which made unpacking my stuff foolish. Why unpack to just pack up again? Now that we know moving is not in our immediate future, it’s time to tackle that and do a good spring clean and reorganise and de-clutter. The other day we got rid of a bunch of pots and pans and baking containers. My sister needed some and we had too many.
Make the house a home
We have made a plan on how we want to tackle the house. Our schedules have been a little hectic, so we have not started. I think we should start soon though. Maybe I can make a series called making a house a home. Let me know what you think. Obviously, the office I can tackle on my own and make it into my own space. I’ve been meaning to reorganise my bookshelves too. And looking at my desk, it needs some TLC pronto. And then on days off my husband and I can tackle little projects around the house. I don’t want to use up the whole day because I want to use those days for writing and social media projects as well.
Writing Goals
I have some ideas for blogging that I hope I can afford to do. Those ideas include things I want to blog about, places I want to visit, and even a bit of a new concept – for me. I saw a YouTuber, who was working on her book, do this for a video. Going away for a writing weekend. She went by herself and made a goal of what she wanted to accomplish each day and then she just took a weekend to focus on her writing. I know my husband might not be a fan of that one, or my bank account, but if I can do that I would love to try. The one exception is I would invite my one friend who is also a writer. I brought the idea up randomly once and she said she wasn’t opposed to it. But that’s for a future discussion and decision because right now it’s not doable.
Join Me in Planning the Future
Do you have any future plans? Are they near future or more distant? These can even be goals that you want to attempt to reach. How can we make this a successful year in that regard? I am quite curious what your methods look like. Maybe you have one that works really well. I, clearly, am still looking for a plan or method that works for me. And I will continue to do so until I find it. Let’s do this together. What is something you really want to see happen this year? For me, I think the two biggest things I want to see happen are: at least one debt paid off and to receive my second paycheck from blogging. If these two things happen this year I will be elated. Will you join me on this adventure? We all know that anything can happen if we try.
