Shaky Start

Well, I will admit that this series is off to a shaky start. Last week didn’t quite go according to plan, but I wouldn’t say it was a complete failure either. Today I’ll update you on some goals that went well and others that did not go so well. Then, I’ll share my goals for this week and the plan I have in place to hopefully reach those goals. Let’s chat.

Shaky Start with Goals

Alright, first let me tell you what my goals for last week were. After all, I can’t update you on what you don’t know. So, let me go through my goals and why they were a goal. My first goal was to write for an hour a day, minimum. This goal was to help me get back into my writing groove. Second, 30 minutes of cat care. This entailed brushing them, cleaning out their litter box more regularly and playing with them. Third goal; clean one thing around my room daily. The hope was that this would help me clean my place without getting overwhelmed. The fourth goal was to spend time in devotions five times this last week. I want to grow my relationship with God. And lastly, I wanted to workout three times to try and get back on track with fitness.

How I Did

As you can probably tell by the title of this blog, it didn’t quite go according to plan. Let’s start with the writing goal. I did do more writing than I have in a while, but certainly not an hour per day. So, progress, I suppose. Then the cat care goal. I did play with them a bit more, and changed their litter box more this last week, but it still needs a lot more work. There were full days where I barely saw them. Okay, next goal. Clean one thing around my room daily. Hmm, how to explain this one. I didn’t do a daily thing, but I did clean more than I usually do. So, a partial win? Devotions I did once. There were so many days I meant to do them and then the next thing I knew I was going to bed. So, I certainly need to do better with that. And last, I got two workouts in. One with a friend and the other was me resetting the breakfast room at work after an event. You can’t tell me moving tables and chairs is not a workout.

Shaky Start – Where Did it Go Wrong

So, what went wrong this last week? Honestly, I think I tried to jump into too much too fast. Jumping into five goals right off the hop just didn’t work for me. It was too much and too overwhelming. Especially on top of my already insane schedule. So, to try and make this week a bit more successful, I’m going to cut down on the number of goals and see if I can start small. Even trying to schedule each day didn’t work. It all felt like too much and too exhausting. I even told my friends before I even started I was exhausted just looking at it all. So, I’m going to try and start small this week. Now, let’s talk about this week’s goals and plans.

A New Plan

Alright, so this week we are changing the plan a little bit. My goals are to write two blogs. If you’re reading this then you know I’m halfway there. I want to get in two workouts again. At the time of this blog I have not done any, so far. And lastly I want to read at least one chapter a day. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but hear me out. I will never get through any books if I don’t pick them up and start reading. And sometimes, one chapter is not enough. I need to keep reading. However, in order to get there, I need to actually read. So, if I aim for a minimum of one chapter a day, then I can get more reading done. At least, that’s the plan.

Moving on From a Shaky Start

Well, now let’s talk strategy. I am really hoping to get a book finished this week. If I can do that then I have my second blog planned. I just need a good planned day of reading. That could be more difficult. Maybe I’ll read over my night shifts instead of sleeping during them. That could help. As for the workouts, I think I have two scheduled already. And they are with other people, so that is helpful. I have a plan, now I just need to execute it. Wish me luck. But, as we know, anything can happen if I try.
