Cozy Blog

The weather outside is starting to get colder and the desire to stay indoors is growing. Around this time people love the cozy vibes that cold weather brings. Bring on the sweaters and blankets and hot drinks. Us readers love this season because it’s perfect for reading. Here are some ways you can enjoy cozy vibes this autumn.

Cozy Space

If you’re able to, set up a space for when you’re wanting to feel extra cozy. This can be as simple as your living room sofa and a blanket. You can make a permanent space. Some of you might have a room where you can set up and leave everything there for when you need to retreat to your cozy spot. Others of us will have to reset each time because the space is used for other things. Whatever your space looks like, this is for cozy activities only. Nothing too crazy. Make it warm, soft, and as quiet as you can. Some of us may require sound cancelling headphones.

Hot Drinks

What better way to get cozy than to make, or buy, yourself a hot drink. There are so many options. Ciders, coffees, teas, or the classic hot cocoa. For me, if it’s the beginning of the day or the end of the day I love a good hot cup of tea. In the middle of the day I’m reaching for a specialty hot drink or a hot cocoa. And where better to enjoy that hot drink than in your cozy space.

A Cozy Activity

Remember that I said your cozy space should be for cozy activities? Now, some of you are probably wondering ,what does a cozy activity consists of? The most obvious is reading a good book. Picture this, you’re in your cozy spot, wrapped in a warm blanket, and your hot drink is set nearby, or in your lap with your hands wrapped around it. Then you pull out your current read and get lost in the world the author has created. Sounds magical, doesn’t it? And if you’re not a reader, audio books are an option as well, especially if you have headphones to block out the outside world. Don’t want books? There are puzzle books, knitting, drawing, colouring, and so much more. Lots of people are into knitting or crocheting right now. All are perfect cozy activities. Or put on a movie or binge watch your favourite show. You decide.

Hot Soup

Who doesn’t love a good bowl of soup? If you’re like me fall means homemade soup for lunch or supper. I personally love making homemade soups and plan to make as much as I can this fall and winter. Maybe I’ll make some to sell at the hotel too. Don’t worry if making a homemade soup intimidates you. There are lots of canned options that are quite delicious. If I’m choosing a canned soup, I go with Campbell’s Chunky. They’re the best tasting in my opinion. But, if you have your favourite, stock up on that. Some people prefer stew over soup and that works just fine as well.

Don’t Get Blue; Get Cozy

Lots of people start getting the blues when they think of the cold because it means winter. I know there are some of you who are absolutely excited about the colder weather and love autumn and winter. That’s amazing. Share all your favourite cozy activities in the comments below. I usually get grumpy as the cold weather sets in because I love summer. However, this year I’m going to make the best of it and indulge in all the cozy activities I can. Plus some exciting ones with the hockey season going on. But, I’m going to choose to have a positive attitude this year.

I Want to Hear From You
