Day Off

Today was supposed to be a day off. It was going to be a productive day and I was going to get so much done. Needless to say, that didn’t quite go according to plan. And not entirely because of my own fault. Let me explain, right after I feed my cats because Teddy is very passionately informing me it’s dinner time.

Night Shift Recovery

Okay, I know that sounds weird, but I honestly can’t think of a better phrase. You see, because I was covering for someone else I ended up doing 6 nights in a row. My brain got extra used to working night shifts and last night was the first night I could sleep this week. Well, my brain forgot about this and nothing I did could change its mind. I tossed and turned all night without any luck. The victory came after I fed my cats their breakfast at 6AM. Just like after a night shift. This is the main thing that threw my day off.

Day Off Plans

So, let me share what my plans for my day off were. The plan was to get a good night’s sleep and then start the day with a bang. My room has been getting a bit out of sorts so the plan was to clean a bunch in my room. Then I was going to power through my current read and write a book review for today’s blog. There were some work related things I was going to do to build some more hours for my hours goal. Tomorrow is my first day back in Sunday school so I was going to do some prep for that. Then the day was open to fill with friends or writing. But, when you only fall asleep first thing in the morning, that throws things out. It makes the day off shorter and the time constraints more obvious.

How my Day Off is Going

So, after finally falling asleep early this morning I woke up around 2:00 in the afternoon. And I was not feeling fully rested. After scrolling through some reels and sending my favourites to people I think would enjoy them, I hopped in the shower. It was a longer shower because I wanted to shave today as well. My pile of dishes was starting to smell so I filled my sink with dish water and put some things in there to soak while I made myself some sandwiches to eat. While eating I watched a YouTube video from Jaime Fok. I washed the first round of dishes and then had to change my dish water because it was nasty. Now round two is soaking. Then I read one more chapter in my book before going over my lesson for tomorrow. Now I’m blogging.

Not a Total Waste

So, I suppose my day off is not a complete waste. I have been getting things done. Not everything I wanted to, but hey, it’s only 6:30 in the evening. I am worried about not being able to sleep tonight. And tomorrow is a really full day, so hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. There’s also a book due on Monday that I have already renewed once and I still have not read it. Maybe I’ll put my current read on hold and start reading that one. Or I’ll just have an evening of reading and work through both of them. But I also need to clean my bathroom. I suppose we will see what the rest of the day entails.

Current Reading Struggle

You would think that with a day off I would have plenty of reading time. Especially if I’m looking for a distraction from cleaning. However, I have found a small problem. I’ve been forming a new story in my head and it’s much more interesting than anything that I’m reading. So, why not write it? Well, because it’s a story line from my own creation, but I’ve taken characters from well known media. Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Ninja Turtles met the Avengers? Because I have and I’ve taken that idea and crossed into some weird dimension with it. But it’s so fun and I’m loving it. I’ve shared it with some friends and one of them was like how can you make this into a story because this is great. Well, it would involve a complete overhaul because I can’t write a story with those characters. But it does have me thinking about how I can make it happen. After all, anything can happen if I try.
