Hey everyone. I am back. Truth be told, a lot has happened already this year that has kept me from blogging, but I’ll tell you all about it in the next blog. This one, I want more lighthearted. So, I will outline my 2026 Book Challenge and my plan. And let’s see if I can do better than last year.
First A Recap
Before we talk about my 2026 Book Challenge, let’s talk about how 2025 went. As many of you are aware, I didn’t exactly throw out a lot of book reviews last year. In fact, I had a really bad reading year. I read only 12 books. My goal was 50. That’s a bit embarrassing if I’m being honest. I know I can do better than that. So, what did I read last year? I probably had the most variety of books than in the past. I had historical fiction, christian mystery, fantasy, contemporary fiction and thrillers. I do want to expand my reading again this year, so we’ll see what happens.
2026 Book Challenge
Until I actually succeed, I will keep my goal at 50 books this year. I had this hilarious idea that I would try to keep pace with my favourite BookTuber this year. I laugh at my past self for even thinking I could attempt it. You see, I’m sitting at 0 books read this year and she is currently at 8 books read. At the time of this blog, it is January 15. So, I am quite far behind her. Her goal is 100 books, which she surpassed last year. I think she said she read 150 books last year. Apparently when your full time job involves reading, it’s a lot easier.
Books I Want to Read
So, part of the plan should mean I actually look for books that I want to read, to inspire me. On my current physical TBR I really want to read: Lone Wolf, Nemesis, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, A Man Called Ove, and The Incandescent. Lone Wolf and Nemesis are the last 2 books of the Orphan X series and I really have loved this series. From the library I also want to get some books that I didn’t get to read or finish reading last year. The ones that come to mind are: Jade City, Ashes of the Son, The Book That Broke the World, and I am considering continuing the Red Rising Series.
2026 Book Challenge Series
There are definitely series that I want to test out or finish during my 2026 Book Challenge. These are series that I would have seen read on BookTube. As previously stated, I’m considering finishing the Red Rising series. Jade City is the first book of the Green Bone Saga (trilogy) and The Book That Broke the World is the second book in the Library trilogy. Last year I really enjoyed the first two books of The Nikki Boyd Files, but have to locate the next book as my library didn’t have it. There is a trilogy that my favourite booktuber absolutely loves, and it sounds interesting. It’s called The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang. So I’ll see if I can get my hands on the first book this year.
Any Recommendations
As always, I would love to get some recommendations of your favourite books or series. As I am not a romance lover, if you recommend a romance book please do not recommend one with a lot of spice or smut. Those I will not read. The only action I want in my books are fight scenes. Let me know what’s on your TBR this year. Have you read any of the books on mine? If so, did you enjoy it? Let’s make 2026 a great reading year. And hopefully with my 2026 Book Challenge I will be blogging more. Don’t worry. For those of you who don’t enjoy book reviews I will be blogging about other things too. And we know that anything can happen if we try.
